BETA Announces Three New Senior Vice Presidents

BETA Group, Inc. is pleased to announce that three individuals have been promoted to the position of Senior Vice President. Please join us in congratulating Kevin Aguiar, PE, Marylou Armstrong, LSP, and Richard Bernardo, PE on this well-earned recognition of their dedication, work ethic, and commitment to supporting the growth of the firm.

Along with the other members of senior management that comprise BETA’s Executive Committee, they are primarily responsible for the overall corporate governance of the firm which include Corporate Visioning/Strategy, Operations/Organizational Leadership, Financial Management, and oversight of the firm’s Business Development Strategies.

Kevin Aguiar, PE, BETA Senior Vice President

Kevin Aguiar, PE is a Registered Engineer in both Rhode Island and Connecticut and serves as BETA’s lead stormwater professional, having been involved with the development and implementation of numerous Stormwater Management Programs in the region. He has over 25 years of experience in the areas of transportation, stormwater, and civil/site engineering, and has been involved in numerous transportation, infrastructure, and hydraulic modeling projects with a scope of duties that include highway design, site design, stormwater design, utility design, environmental permitting, and preparation of construction plans and specifications. With a specialized focus on resiliency, Kevin has implemented green infrastructure, low impact development, and sustainable solutions for clients throughout New England.

Marylou Armstrong, LSP, BETA Senior Vice President

Marylou Armstrong, LSP has managed numerous hazardous waste site evaluations and remedial projects throughout New England over her 30-year professional career. She has designed and implemented remedial activities involving engineered barriers, major excavations of contaminated soil, stabilization of RCRA waste soils, soil vapor extraction systems, and groundwater extraction and treatment systems throughout New England. Marylou has invested her career working with the private, public, and non-profit sector promoting compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations while at the same time applying practical and economic solutions for her clients. As a hazardous material and waste management professional, she has worked with both the private and municipal sectors and uniquely understands balancing clients’ business needs with satisfying regulatory requirements.

Richard Bernardo, PE, BETA Senior Vice President

Richard Bernardo, PE has over 40 years of experience in civil engineering, specializing in civil design and construction projects, roadway reconstruction design, highway relocation design, traffic impact studies, and construction inspection. His management and executive background spans both the private and public sectors, having previously served as the Director of Public Works in the City of Cranston and Town of Burrillville, Rhode Island. Rich is a Past President of the Providence Engineering Society and the Rhode Island Society for Professional Engineers. He is a Life Member of the Connecticut Society of Civil Engineers. Rich is also a member of the City of Warwick Growth Management Council and was the governor-appointed Vice Chairman of the Rhode Island Board of Registration for ten years.

Kevin, Marylou, and Richard each bring a unique set of skills to our firm which have resulted in significant contributions to BETA’s current growth and success. Together they bring a wide range of expertise and experience and will provide valuable insight on the many corporate issues and decisions that are addressed each and every day. We are confident that their contributions will be reflected in the firm’s sustainability and growth for years to come.
