Rick Stinson wins APWA Presidential Leadership Award

We are pleased to announce that Rick Stinson, an Associate with BETA Group, Inc., has been awarded the prestigious APWA Presidential Leadership Award. This award is selected by the National President and has only been awarded to 21 recipients since 1997.

Each year the Presidential Leadership Award may be bestowed at the sole discretion of the APWA President. This year, national APWA President Mary Joyce Ivers recognized Rick as a member who has distinguished himself with his leadership in the community and within the public works profession.

Rick has an extensive background in the public sector, including 18 years as the Director of Public Works in Wakefield, MA. Rick has been an active member of New England APWA since 1988, having held the roles of National Region 1 Director, Chapter President, and National Delegate, as well as participating on several committees.

President Ivers noted that it was an honor to present the 2021 Presidential Leadership Award to Rick, who has distinguished himself and the public works profession with his leadership and dedication to APWA and Public Works. Rick has been a champion for Young Professionals, APWA’s Fallen Heroes program, and the First Responder initiative.

“Rick developed many programs and initiatives within the New England Chapter and is a champion for the motto ‘Public Works Makes It Happen’. Rick is a friend, and is highly respected throughout the public works community, nationally and internationally,” she said. “He always exhibits his leadership qualities and devotion to the growth of the public works profession.”
