Project Engineer – Stormwater (Water/Wastewater)

BETA’s Water/Wastewater group has an opening for an experienced Project Engineer in our Norwood or Worcester MA office. In this role, you will work alongside industry-leading engineers, planners, and landscape architects to assist our municipal clients with stormwater management, water quality issues, and adaptation to climate change.

Main Responsibilities:

• Provide technical expertise for the analysis, design, review, and construction of stormwater management (SW) systems
• Investigate, assess, and report on the condition, capacity, effectiveness, and vulnerability to climate change of existing SW systems
• Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic models as a basis of evaluation and design of SW systems
• Design SW improvements for construction by including best management practices (BMP) and/or Low Impact Development (LID) retrofits to meet latest stormwater standards and EPA MS4 requirements.
• Perform EPA MS4 Permit compliance tasks that include IDDE investigations, system inspections, BMP/LID retrofits to meet water quality standards and reporting
• Develop and manage budgets, schedules, mentor staff, and support/coordinate as necessary with other departments
• Provide reports and public presentations as necessary for the project or task
• Coordinate with clients on assigned projects and serve as primary contact for clients

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
• Professional Engineer license preferred
• 5 to 8 years of engineering experience in stormwater related work
• Experience with MS4 permitting and municipal work a plus
• Professional report writing and presentation skills
• Proficient in hydrology and hydraulic software such as HydroCAD/StormCAD/HecRAS
• Strong proficiency with AutoCAD/Civil 3D and/or GIS software
