Meet Our Summer Interns
August 20, 2025
At BETA, we’re proud to host a talented group of future civil engineers who have been bringing fresh perspectives, energy, and curiosity to our teams this summer.
We asked some of our 2025 summer interns about their experience working at BETA so far, and here’s what they shared:
What was the best part of interning at BETA?

“The best part of interning at BETA so far has really been the opportunity to learn. From familiarizing myself with NHDOT, MassDOT, and RIDOT item lists and how to calculate quantities for a cost estimate, to setting up a structural analysis for traffic signal poles and cables, I cannot be more grateful for the opportunity to grow my knowledge base while being paid!”
Stephen, University of New Hampshire

“The people are amazing. It feels like everyone goes out of their way to help and teach you new things every day, which is incredibly helpful as an intern trying to learn as much as possible!”
Bryce, University of Vermont

“I have had the opportunity to work on projects in New Hampshire, including roads that I have used before. It is exciting to know that I could directly improve the infrastructure that I interact with every day.”
Mason, University of New Hampshire
What was your favorite project that you worked on this summer?

“If I had to pick, it’d probably be our Flood Study in Westwood, MA. It’s been an awesome crash course on stormwater network design, GIS systems, and surveying. Plus, it’s kind of fun getting out of the office with a giant magnet every once in a while.”
Paul, University of Massachusetts Amherst

“I’ve really enjoyed using ArcGIS to gather and organize information for projects. It’s been a great way to apply what I learned and see how it’s used in practice.”
Matt, University of Connecticut
How will your BETA internship help prepare you for a career?

“I sought out a structural engineering internship with BETA to get insight into what a structural engineer really does day-to-day at the workplace. The chance to see and be involved in structural projects before college graduation is not always available to students, and it allows me to get a better sense of my career path at a young age.”
Stephen
“Working with a team of people every day that designs and tracks progress on projects that are in construction or will be built in the future helps to see what the everyday responsibilities and the long-term outcomes of projects will be as an engineer. Being able to work in an environment that puts some responsibility on you for the quality of the final product while also giving you room to learn and grow as a young engineer really jumpstarts the preparation for your career.”
Bryce
“Interning at BETA and being able to bounce around between all these different aspects of the project pipeline has given me a pretty good sense of the scope and the practicalities of CEE projects that I would never get in school. […] Everyone is friendly and willing to help one another out, so if I’m having trouble with ArcGIS or CAD, there are always at least ten people I can reach out to for help.”
Paul
“This internship has helped me build confidence with new programs and tools, while also giving me a better understanding of what working in this industry is really like.”
Matt
“This internship has introduced me to working in a collaborative team environment and has given me valuable insight into how consulting firms operate.”
Mason

Finally, we’d like to thank our summer interns for all the hard work and energy they brought to the BETA offices across New England. We are excited to see what you accomplish!
