Parker’s River Landing Celebrated with Ribbon Cutting and Resiliency Fair
May 7, 2026
The Town of Yarmouth, Massachusetts, celebrated the grand opening of Parker’s River Landing Park and Boardwalk on Saturday, May 2, marking an exciting new chapter for a site that has been over 30 years in the making. Once home to the West Yarmouth Drive-In Theater, the 22-acre parcel has been transformed into a vibrant public space that blends recreation, education, and coastal resilience.

The ribbon cutting and Coastal Resiliency Fair brought together residents, local leaders, and project partners for a day of celebration and exploration. Attendees enjoyed guest speakers, guided tours, and family-friendly activities while experiencing the site’s new amenities firsthand, including walking trails and scenic overlooks, a new playground and kayak launch, and restored natural habitats.

BETA Group, Inc. was proud to partner with the Town of Yarmouth to help bring this vision to life. Our multidisciplinary team of landscape architects, environmental scientists, and engineers developed the final design plans for the park and boardwalk, incorporating bicycle and pedestrian pathways, green infrastructure, and flexible community spaces for food trucks, artists’ shanties, shade structures, and future events. The elevated boardwalk and site design were carefully crafted to provide a unique waterfront experience while protecting the surrounding salt marsh habitats.
Given the sensitive nature of the site, the project required extensive permitting and coordination across multiple regulatory agencies. The result is a thoughtfully designed space that not only enhances public access to Parker’s River but also demonstrates how communities can adapt to changing environmental conditions through resilient, forward-thinking design. Now open to the public, Parker’s River Landing stands as both a community gathering place and a model for sustainable coastal development, reflecting Yarmouth’s commitment to protect its natural resources for years to come.
This impactful project is now being recognized through the Environment Business Council of New England (EBC) APEX Awards and is in the running for the EBC Community Choice Award, which highlights projects that resonate most with the public. We encourage you to show your support by casting your vote for Parker’s River Landing Park and Boardwalk.
