Rick Stinson Honored with APWA Outstanding Chapter Achievement Award

BETA Group, Inc. (BETA) is proud to congratulate Richard “Rick” Stinson, PWLF, on receiving the American Public Works Association (APWA) Outstanding Chapter Achievement and Excellence in Chapter Service Award. The national award recognizes dedicated, longstanding contributions that strengthen APWA chapters, enhance services to members, and provide value to the public works community.

For more than 35 years, Rick has dedicated his career to public works and municipal leadership. He spent nearly three decades working for the Town of Wakefield, Massachusetts, including 18 years as Director of Public Works. In that role, Rick oversaw 11 divisions, 77 employees, and an annual budget of more than $20 million. Following his retirement from Wakefield in 2019, he also served as Interim Director of Public Works for the City of Melrose.

Rick’s dedication to the profession extends well beyond his municipal roles. A longtime member and leader within the New England Chapter of APWA, he has served as Chapter President, National Delegate, and National Region 1 Director, in addition to contributing his time and expertise to numerous committees. Through decades of involvement, Rick has helped advance the profession, strengthen connections among public works professionals, and support the communities they serve.

Today, Rick continues to serve municipalities as an Associate and Client Service Manager at BETA. Drawing on his extensive public works experience, he helps communities navigate projects from funding through construction and provides guidance on capital improvement programs, business operations, project planning, and other strategic initiatives.

We are proud to celebrate Rick for this well-deserved recognition and his lifetime of service to APWA, the public works profession, and communities throughout New England. His leadership, knowledge, and commitment to public service exemplify BETA’s mission of improving the communities where we live and work.
