John Michalak, PE, ENV SP

John is a Senior Associate at BETA with over 30 years of engineering experience specializing in the planning, design, and management of transportation and infrastructure projects across New England. He brings a strong leadership record and a deep commitment to sustainable development, client collaboration, and technical expertise.

John’s extensive experience includes multimodal corridor improvements, bridge and dam design, ADA compliance upgrades, and municipal infrastructure revitalization. He has managed a wide range of award-winning projects for MassDOT, MBTA, municipal clients, and public works departments, with responsibilities ranging from initial planning and design to construction oversight. John has served as contract manager for several on-call assignments for municipalities and state agencies, including numerous roadway and bridge projects for MassDOT and multiple infrastructure upgrades for the Boston Public Works Department, DCR, MBTA, MassDevelopment, and Massport.

Well-versed in client coordination, public engagement, and sustainable design practices, John is an Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) and a registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and is an active member of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC).
