Jonathan Niro, PWS
Project Manager
Jon is a Project Manager in the environmental services group at BETA with a decade of experience working in environmental consulting. While Jon’s experience has been focused on wetland science, environmental permitting, and construction oversight, he has also gained experience and knowledge in land surveying, drafting, spatial analysis, stormwater management, and environmental planning from years of both private and public work. This breadth of knowledge has allowed Jon to approach projects from several different perspectives and serve as a common link between different disciplines, clients, and regulators.
At BETA, Jon has served as a prime contributor to numerous projects varying in scope, location, and complexity. Jon has been the Environmental Monitor and lead permitting professional on several MassDOT highway and bridge projects and has contributed environmental permitting support to MassDOT design-build teams. He also routinely leads wetland delineations, conducts function and value assessments, and develops mitigation and restoration plans as part of permitting processes. Jon’s permitting portfolio is extensive, having secured approvals/coverage under local/state/federal permitting and review processes for bridge and culvert replacements, highway reconstruction, rail trail construction, roadway corridor improvements, and public facilities upgrades. Jon is a firm believer that field experience on any project is paramount and always looks to work with contractors and other engineering professionals in the field to make projects a reality. His practical approach to projects and construction has allowed him to successfully serve as the lead wetlands peer reviewer for several municipalities across Massachusetts.
Jon is a Professional Wetland Scientist certified by the Society of Wetland Scientists and has completed several post-graduate courses and workshops related to soil science. In his free time, Jon can be found creating and playing music, cycling across all types of surfaces, and spending time with his partner, being the best “dog parents” that they can be to their dog Milo.
