Mark has over 30 years of experience in structural engineering, is a Vice President, and the Structural Practice Leader for BETA. As Structural Practice Leader, Mark is responsible for the management, oversight, and design of all structural projects for state agencies and municipalities throughout New England. As such, Mark, along with the structural department, provides structural engineering design and support services for a wide array of projects including: vehicular and pedestrian bridges; culverts; retaining walls; parking garages; buildings; and environmental engineering structures. Other specialty projects have included the design and detailing of unique support structures for interpretative panels; elevated pedestrian walkways; and party wall stabilizations.
Marks’ experience includes the structural design of numerous vehicular and pedestrian bridges; freight, commuter rail and transit bridges and facilities; and marine terminal and waterfront projects. He is responsible for managing a diverse staff of structural engineers, providing project management, client contact, quality assurance, and quality control reviews, as well as performing site investigations and evaluations, engineering designs, and preparation of contract plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
Mark served as Project Manager for the development of a comprehensive Synchronization Plan for the numerous bridges within the Charles River Basin and on many bridge rehabilitation and replacement projects that used accelerated bridge construction techniques.
Mark is an active member and past chair of the SEI Boston Chapter and is the Clerk of the Permanent Building Committee within his hometown.
