Announcing a Leadership Transition

Frank Romeo, PE with Joe D'Alesio, PELINCOLN, RI – BETA Group, Inc., a leading New England engineering, planning, and landscape architecture firm with over 175 employees, is pleased to announce that the Board of Directors has voted to elect Joseph D’Alesio, PE to the role of President and Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective January 2020. Frank Romeo, PE, the firm’s current President, will remain in the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and member of the firm’s Board of Directors.

Mr. D’Alesio has been with BETA since 1985 and has served in a variety of positions over the past 30+ years. He has served as project and client manager on some of BETA’s largest and most high-profile environmental engineering projects for municipalities and agencies throughout the region.  Most recently, he has held the position of Senior Vice President. In this position, he has been responsible for overseeing the scheduling, resource allocation, QA/QC, and overall management of the environmental engineering practice area for the entire firm.  In addition, Mr. D’Alesio has played a key role in leading corporate initiatives in the areas of IT strategy, contracting procedures, HR policy, and risk management. In his new role as President and COO, he will be responsible for providing senior leadership and oversight on all corporate strategy initiatives.

Mr. D’Alesio has been an active member of several industry organizations, including the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC-RI). In 2018 he was elected to a two-year term as President of ACEC-RI, which represents over 40 independent companies engaged in the planning and design of infrastructure projects for public and private clients throughout Rhode Island.

Mr. Romeo has served as BETA’s President since 2000 and was elected CEO in 2014. He will continue to guide BETA’s management team, providing vision and leadership regarding corporate strategy and business planning.
