Couture Named Young Leader of New England Chapter APWA

June 7, 2018

LINCOLN, RI – On May 23, 2018 BETA Group, Inc.’s Senior Marketing Manager Aimee Couture was given the 2018 Young Leader Award by the New England Chapter of the American Public Works Association (NEAPWA). The American Public Works Association serves professionals in all aspects of public works. NEAPWA’s mission is to advance the theory and practice of the design, construction, maintenance, administration and operation of public works facilities and services; the dissemination of information and experiences; the promotion of improved practices in public works administration; the expectation that all member public works officials will adhere to high professional and ethical standards; and the professional and social improvement of its members.

Ms. Couture has nine years of integrated marketing and communications experience, particularly in graphic communication, the implementation of social media tools, and website development and maintenance. As Senior Marketing Manager at BETA, Ms. Couture works with the marketing team to coordinate all aspects of strategic marketing and communications. She has generously volunteered her time to NEAPWA for nearly six years, acting as Newsletter Editor for four years and holding membership positions on the Public Works Awareness, Young Professional, and Website committees.

The Young Leader Award is given to a member who has demonstrated an initial commitment to the public works profession and the Chapter, and show potential for future growth within APWA. The award promotes the concept that length of career does not necessarily indicate leadership abilities or potential for service.

Rich Benevento, Co-Chair of the Public Works Awareness Committee and Awards Committee Chairman, said “Aimee’s marketing and social media skills have been a tremendous asset to the New England Chapter and our mission to promote public works. She is dedicated, hardworking and always willing to help. Aimee’s designation as a 2018 Young Leader is well deserved.”

According to Tony Garro, Senior Vice President at BETA Group, Inc. and Director on the Board for the NEAPWA, “Aimee has gone above and beyond to ensure the New England Chapter has a strong brand, consistent messaging, and impactful graphic communications. She has significantly advanced the cause of the public works profession, and shows great leadership at both BETA and within the NEAPWA.”

Ms. Couture received her BA in Communications from Rhode Island College, and her MA in Integrated Marketing Communication from Marist College. She has effectively used her education, strategic thinking and knowledge of the public works industry to offer communications solutions to the New England Chapter. Her work to create a broad presence online has assisted in membership growth, and has received recognition and awards by the national APWA.
