What does employee ownership mean to us?
Employee Ownership Month is a month-long celebration of the undeniable benefits of employee ownership.
We recently asked our employees about the benefits of working at BETA and in addition to our culture, opportunities for growth, and an exciting project portfolio, BETA’s ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Program) was at the top of the list. Check out the above video to see what the ESOP means to us.
The rewards of our ESOP extend further than our employee owners though. Because we all take extreme pride in our work and treat the company and its success as our own, our clients and the communities we work with see the benefits as well.
The changing face of employee ownership at BETA
As BETA has grown, the demographic of its employee-ownership has greatly changed. In the last decade, we’re proud to have added over 50 employees, more than doubling the number of female staff and minorities. We are also excited that we have nearly doubled the number of young professionals (staff under 35) who now comprise close to 40% of the company.
Our varied cultural backgrounds, ages, genders, and races make us a stronger team as we learn from one another and share new perspectives and diverse ideas, cultivating more efficient and creative problem solving for our clients.

Welcome to the team!
Alec Dunlap joins BETA’s GIS/asset management group, working out of our Lincoln office. Alec has previous experience as a GIS Specialist supporting data development and acquisition efforts pertaining to FEMA floodplain mapping.
Alec earned his BS in Environmental Science and Policy and a GIS Certificate from Plymouth State University, where he also served as a GIS Teaching Assistant and Undergraduate Research Assistant.
