Farmland Master Plan

Franklin, Massachusetts

The Town of Franklin’s potential acquisition of farmland fronting the Charles River gives a great opportunity for community supported agriculture, passive recreation, and neighborhood connectivity. BETA performed a thorough site assessment and provided a series of analysis drawings to assure that the environment will be protected as they developed a Master Plan comprised of trails, picnicking, kayak access, birding/pollinator enhancements, and farm-related public uses. Consideration was given to flood sustainability, education, and health benefits for the community. The Master Plan was coordinated with Town planners, the conservation agent, public works personnel, and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (for public outreach).
