Northern Rail Trail

Lebanon, New Hampshire

Spanning 57.6 miles from Lebanon to Boscawen, the Northern Rail Trail is New Hampshire’s longest rail-trail conversion and provides an accessible route for a variety of multimodal users. BETA provided design and construction phase services for the Northern Trail as a part of the Spencer Street improvement project in Lebanon, NH. The trail begins at the intersection of Taylor and Spencer Street (northern trail limit) and extends approximately 1.5 miles to the Bank Street Extension. Originally a gravel trail, BETA has designed this as a 12-foot-wide paved multi-use trail with over the shoulder drainage and ADA accessibility. Additionally, an enhanced at grade crossing was developed at the intersection of Taylor and Spencer Street to include high visibility rapid flashing beacons with push buttons and a decorative paver crosswalk. The project is fully constructed and currently fully operational.
