Veterans Memorial Park

BETA worked with City staff and the Lowell Project Design Committee on the design of a new Veteran’s Park in the Belvidere neighborhood. The new Veterans Park honors and memorializes veterans who have sacrificed for our country.

The design includes a vegetated buffer of native plantings for abutting homeowners on three sides and incorporates pedestrian connections and programming for the adjacent elementary school. Input from local residents and the Belvidere Neighborhood Association shaped the design to create both a gathering space and areas for quiet reflection.

Now complete, the project includes new lighting, meandering walkways, ornamental plantings, custom curved granite seat walls featuring plaques that acknowledge all branches of the US Military, a flagpole with an inscribed base, and an irrigation system. Additionally, the project incorporates green infrastructure and rain gardens for stormwater management.
