BETA selected for Newmarket Square reconstruction project

Newmarket Square reconstruction project

BETA is excited to begin planning and design work on Newmarket Square in Boston. The unique district was created in 1953 to relocate companies from the Faneuil Hall Market and Haymarket Square in downtown Boston which resulted in these areas being redeveloped for office space, tourism, retail shops, and restaurants.

The primary goals of the Newmarket Square reconstruction project are to improve safety for all modes of transportation, bring the streets into a state of good repair, and ensure accessible sidewalks and crossings. Upon completion, we anticipate an infusion of capital to this area of the City which will fuel other businesses with economic vitality.

Building on the work undertaken though the Better Bike Lane project on Massachusetts Avenue, this project will address challenges associated with street lighting, sidewalks, and the roadway. BETA’s team of experts will work closely with the City of Boston to develop a sense of place where residents, tourists, and the City’s workforce will continue to benefit in a uniquely thriving and inviting district.
