Norton Rail Trail Project Update

May is National Bike Month! Established in 1956 by the League of American Bicyclists, this month highlights the many benefits of bicycling, including social, physical, and economic well-being. With over 40 years of bike trail planning and design experience across New England, BETA is proud to create safe, inclusive, and resilient corridors that link people to places – and each other.
This May, we’re excited to spotlight the Norton-Mansfield Rail Trail Extension, a nearly completed project that exemplifies the power of local collaboration and thoughtful design. Stretching through scenic woodlands and neighborhoods, this trail provides a vital, car-free connection between Norton and Mansfield. From improved safety and accessibility to increased economic vitality for the surrounding area, this trail is more than just a route – it’s a community asset. Stay tuned for a full project feature coming soon, and click here to explore more of BETA’s bike path projects. Let’s keep rolling toward a more bike-friendly future!
Bikes on Main

In honor of National Bike Month, BETA is once again proud to take part in the Old Wethersfield Shopkeepers Association’s Bicycles on Main event – a celebration where local businesses, organizations, and residents decorate upcycled bicycles along Main Street.
This year, our Hartford office brought a new twist to the classic FHWA “Bike Route” sign, transforming it into a vibrant, community-centered art piece. Thank you to our volunteers for their hard work and creativity. We’re excited to be part of this celebration of bike-friendly infrastructure and local spirit. Stop by Main Street in Old Wethersfield, Connecticut this weekend to see all the displays.
