Celebrating Employee Ownership

Employee Ownership Month is a time to celebrate the undeniable benefits of employee ownership for our team, our clients, and the communities we serve.

At BETA, our Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP) is more than a financial benefit, it’s the foundation of our culture. If you ask our employees what they value most about working at BETA, our ESOP will always stand out alongside our collaborative environment, opportunities for growth, and diverse, exciting project portfolio.

The rewards of employee ownership extend far beyond our team. Because each of us takes immense pride in our work and treats BETA’s success as our own, our clients and the communities we partner with see the benefits, too. When everyone has a stake in the company’s success, we deliver projects with greater care, accountability, and long-term value.

This October, and throughout the year, we’re proud to celebrate what makes BETA strong: our people, our ownership culture, and our shared commitment to excellence.

Partnering for Safer, More Walkable Communities

October isn’t just Employee Ownership Month — it’s also National Pedestrian Safety Month, a nationwide effort to raise awareness about keeping everyone safe on our roads and pathways.

At BETA, pedestrian safety is central to our mission of improving the communities we live and work in. Our ongoing work with the Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments (NVCOG) and the Town of Middlebury, CT, on the Route 64 Corridor Study reflects this commitment in action.

The three-mile corridor, which includes the popular Middlebury Greenway, presents opportunities to improve walkability, enhance crossings, and better connect neighborhoods and destinations. Through data analysis, public engagement, and collaboration with local and state partners, BETA is helping identify infrastructure and design solutions that prioritize people, whether they’re walking, biking, or driving.

This study is one of many projects at BETA that focus on creating safer, more accessible streets and pathways. From corridor improvement plans to complete streets and greenway projects throughout New England, our teams continue to integrate pedestrian safety and multimodal connectivity into every stage of planning and design, helping communities move toward a safer, more connected future.

Restoring Community Spaces That Bring People Together

Our team was proud to join city officials and community partners at Bushnell Park in Hartford, CT this month for the ribbon-cutting of the restored lily pond. BETA provided oversight for the dredging and restoration of this iconic feature to improve water quality and address years of sediment buildup.

The project also included drainage improvements, utility upgrades, and restoration of the historic brownstone walls, returning a beloved public space to its full potential.
