Mark R. Gershman, PE

As President and Chief Operating Officer, Mark oversees the day-to-day administrative and operational functions at BETA. Mark is responsible for allocating resources and personnel to meet the project requirements and schedules of our clients. His responsibilities include managing a diverse staff of transportation, structural, and civil engineers; landscape architects; environmental scientists; and water and wastewater engineers. He continues to provide project management duties, performing quality assurance and quality control checks, site investigations, and evaluations. Mark is also BETA’s lead engineer for design-build bridge replacement projects.

Mark’s experience includes the structural design of numerous vehicular and pedestrian bridges; freight, commuter rail, and transit bridges and facilities; and marine terminal and waterfront projects. He is responsible for managing a diverse staff of structural engineers, providing project management, client contact, and quality assurance and quality control reviews, as well as performing site investigations and evaluations; engineering designs; and preparation of contract plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates.

Mark is a past chair of the SEI Boston Chapter and a member of the Permanent Building Committee within his hometown.
