On-Call Traffic Engineering Services

Hartford, Connecticut

In the absence of a staff Traffic Engineer, the City of Hartford retained BETA to provide services to assist the Department of Public Works in responding to pertinent issues that arise within the Department and from City residents. These efforts pertain to planning, safety, and operational conditions. The assignments to date include the following:

  • Traffic signal equipment assessment and repair design
  • Signal plan revisions
  • All-way Stop sign assessment
  • Crosswalk installation assessment
  • Traffic signal warrant analysis
  • City signal interconnect wiring assessment and repair
  • On-street parking prohibition assessment
  • School crossing guard safety assessment
  • Pavement marking plans for new bike lane installations
  • Structural analysis for span pole replacements
  • Bid documents for loop detector testing and replacement project
  • Local Road Accident Reduction Program applications

Based on each request from the City, BETA has conducted field reconnaissance, met with appropriate persons, conducted necessary engineering efforts, and reported the findings to the City. Not only does this project allow BETA to feature all aspects of traffic engineering expertise, but also our project management skills to deliver timely responses to the City.
